Are you looking for Wheel Balancing for your vehicle?

Wheel balancing is one of the important but often overlooked maintenance tasks.

Why is it necessary?

When the tyre/wheel assembly is not balanced correctly, it causes uneven weight distribution. This imbalance can lead to vibrations and a wobbling feeling when driving. Not only does it affect driving comfort, but it also causes tyres to wear faster and can potentially damage other vehicle components.

Vehicle-, wheel- and tyre manufacturers recommend regular routine balancing checks.

Here at Somerset Tyres, we can deliver this service quickly and accurately.

When to get wheels balanced:

Wheel balancing must be carried out when new tyres are fitted or during seasonal tyre changes (summer- to winter tyres and vice versa) to ensure even weight distribution.

Furthermore, it is recommended for routine maintenance or when you notice symptoms like steering wheel vibrations or uneven tyre wear.

Signs of Unbalanced Wheels:

Vibration: Vibrations in the steering wheel, seats, or floorboard when driving are among the most common symptoms of wheel imbalance.

Steering Wheel Wobble: Unbalanced wheels can cause the vehicle's steering wheel to wobble, making it challenging to keep the vehicle straight.

Uneven Tyre Wear: Another very common sign of wheel imbalance is fast and often uneven tyre wear.

We strongly advise our customers to come to us for regular tyre checks and to have a quick look at their car's tyres at least once a week.

Reduced Fuel Efficiency: Unbalanced wheels increase the rolling resistance when driving. This means the engine needs more power and uses more fuel to move the vehicle.

Noise: Wheel imbalance causes tyres to touch the road surface unevenly, which can cause noises like squealing, thumping, or a humming sound while driving.

Difficulty steering: Controlling the vehicle can become more challenging, especially when turning or when driving in adverse weather conditions.

Brake Issues: If unnoticed or ignored for too long, unbalanced wheels can seriously affect a vehicle's braking system.

Suspension Problems: Driving with unbalanced wheels over a long time puts stress on a vehicle's suspension components, which can lead to suspension issues.
